Dick, a veteran of 17 years in air transportation and well known in Cedar City because of his activities in the inauguration of air passenger and mail service here, today announced an-nounced his resignation as vice president of Western Air Lines to be effective October 20. Dick Joined Western in September, Sep-tember, 1940, as general traffic manager and was elected a vice president of the company in August, Au-gust, 1946. He began his career in commercial aviation in 1933 as a ticket agent for the consolidated con-solidated airlines ticket office in Chicago and subsequently served in traffic executive capacities capa-cities with several airlines before be-fore becoming associated with Western. During his tenure with West-em, West-em, Dick was initiator of several sales promotion plans which were later adopted in whole or in part by other certificated air car-riers. car-riers. These included inauguration inaugura-tion of a commutation ticket plan and fare and one-quarter excursion fares. Dick, an experienced photographer, photogra-pher, also was a pioneer in the development of the group selling technique, which includes the use of motion pictures and slides for illustrated flight talks. This program remains an integral part of Western's sales campaign. |
