Show Former Cedarite Dies in Salt Lake City Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Palmer Pal-mer Middleton, 80, widow of Dr. George W. Middleton, prominent Utah physician and surgeon, and a one-time resident of Cedar City, died at her home in Salt Lake City Sunday evening. Ailments Incident to age were given as the cause of death. Mrs. Middleton was born In Cedar City on January 1, 1869, a daughter of Richard and Johanna Johan-na Reese Palmer, early settlers of southern Utah. She was married mar-ried to Dr. Middleton In Septem-ber, Septem-ber, 1893, In the St. George LDS temple. After he had practiced medicine here for sometime, they moved to Salt Lake City, and had resided there since. Dr. Middleton died In 1938. Mrs. Middleton had been a member of the Eleventh ward in Salt Lake City for more than 40 years and had been active in church affairs all of her life, both in Cedar City and Salt Lake City. She was a member of the Ensign club In the state capital at the time of her death. Survivors Include four sons: Drs. A. W. and Richard P. Mid-dleton, Mid-dleton, and Eugene Middleton, Salt Lake City; John H. Middle, ton, Washington, D. C; three brothers: Richard H Jethro and William R. Palmer, Cedar City; a sister, Mrs. M. J. Macfarlane, Salt Lake City, and seven grandchildren. grand-children. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed in Salt Lake City Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon and burial was made in the Salt Lake City ceme-tery. |
