Show Focus Spotlight On Possible Party Nominees With the dates on which both Republicans and Democrats will make nominations for the coming com-ing municipal election not far off much attention is being focused fo-cused on probable candidates for the various offices. While Mayor Gronway R. Parry Par-ry has not made any public statement as to whether or not he would be a candidate for reelection, re-election, the general concensus of opinion seems to be that Mr. Parry will be the Democratic party's par-ty's nominee for the position. Dr. L. V. Broadbent seems to have considerable support for the nomination on the Republican Repub-lican ticket, as does John M. Brown and L, N. Marsden, Jr. Morris C. Roberts, who has served on the city council for the past six years, would dnw strong; support, but it is understood that Roberts has Indicated he would1 not run. Other Republicans mentioned men-tioned for the position are Heber Sevy, Dr. John Beal, and Lymanr Sevy. Under the new state election laws the Mayor will be elected for a four-year term this year, rather than for the usual two-year two-year term. How many of the present members mem-bers of the city council will seek re-election Is not known and until un-til their plans are announced the Democratic plans will not take much shape. All of the council-men council-men are Democrats except Morris Mor-ris Roberts. Haldow E. Christen- sen's term runs for two more years, while the terms of Frank Milne, Kumen Gardner and Myles Walker expire on December Decem-ber 31 of this year. Parley Anderson and DeMar Bowman have been added to the list of Republican possibilities for positions on the council, along with others previously mentioned, Including Elwood Corry, Truman Rollins, Willard Lunt, Don Draper, Ralph Perkins. John S. Chrlstensen, William R. Thorley, Glen Kcnney, DeMoin Jones, Francis Betenson and M-F. M-F. Grames. The Republicans will nominate nomin-ate on Wednesday, September 12, while the Democrats have set Tuesday, October 18 for their nominating meeting. |
