Show "HandsOffPolicy On China By US Justiiied"-Chang Dr. H. H. Chang, representative representa-tive of the institute of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese United National Association, speaking before the Escalante Knife and Fork club in Cedar City last Thursday evening, .maintained that the State department of the United States was justified in Its present "hands off policy with relation to China. The speaker, who opened the 1949-50 Knife and Fork series, states that corruption in the present pres-ent Chinese government makes it almost impossible for aid from the United States to reach the common people. He pointed out that the greatest aid that could be given his country would be to help it progress industrially and to make modern agricultural methods and equipment available availa-ble to the people of China. In commenting on the sweep of communism over China, it was not a case of the Chinese embracing em-bracing the communistic theory of government, but rather a desperate des-perate acceptance of anything offered as a relief from the failures fail-ures of the present government leaders. These leaders, he said, have developed so much greed for power and wealth, that they have lost the faith of the people. |
