Show Appeal Made to Utahns to Save All Pioneer Articles and Pictures Daughters of Utah Pioneers of Cedar and surrounding communities communi-ties are making an appeal to the people in this area. This fine group of women who were recently elected to head a new organization of the D.U.P. in Cedar City is making an appeal ap-peal to each and every resident of this section of Utah do not destroy or mutilate, or allow to be destroyed or mutilated, any article or item of pioneer inter-est. inter-est. So much has already been destroyed, de-stroyed, that what remains, we should be doubly careful of. Many of you have enlarged pic-turse pic-turse that belong in the gallery of Pioneers, according to these ladies. There are hand wrought pieces of various arts and crafts, which are valuable educationally in showing contrast in methods of manufacture, remembering always al-ways the struggles of Utah's empire em-pire builders. There are also treasures of old books, clothing, furniture, china, brass, wood, weaving embroidery embroid-ery and other fancy hand-work, all laid away, awaiting a suitable suit-able time for showing. As yet, having no suitable facilities for caring for any of these treasures, the D. U. P. organization or-ganization earnestly asks that the people continue to treasure these articles for some time longer, long-er, until the organization is in a position to offer a nice, safe 1 place for display. Since everyone is guilty of discarding dis-carding enlarged pictures because be-cause they have no place in modern mod-ern and modernized homes, please remember that for Cedar's Centennial which begins November Novem-ber 11, 1951, the D U Ps want a pioneer picture gallery. This can include all those of our people peo-ple who were born before May 10. 18C9; although to be considered consid-ered a pioneer, a person should have Imigrated to Utah before that date. |
