Show Cuts Fever In Polio Aureomycin, one of the new antibiotic anti-biotic drugs, should be carefully tested in a long series of cases of infantile paralysis because preliminary prelimi-nary tests Indicate a probable beneficial bene-ficial Influence on the' disease, two Waukegan physicians report. The report, made by Dr. Erich Weis and Dr. Eurton J. Winston of St. Therese Hospital, Waukegan, 111., was published pub-lished in the official organ of the Illinois state medical society. Their main finding was that the average duration of the fever period of the disease was only 2.3 days In patients who received two grams or more of the drug per day. Previous studies stud-ies had shown an average duration of 4.8 days without aureomycin. |
