Show Five Mile Camp Still Popular Spot Camping and picnicking continue con-tinue to be favorite summer pastimes pas-times for Utah residents, according accord-ing to figures reported today by ; Ranger Wilford Bentley of the , Dixie National forest. Based on counts made by Samuel J Whitney, Whit-ney, forest patrolman at Ver-.milion Ver-.milion Castle camp ground, approximately ap-proximately 35,000 visits to that camp were made during the past summer season. I Vermilion Castle, sometimes known as Five Mile Park, is one , of the Dixie's most beautiful recreation rec-reation spots. Located in Paro-wan Paro-wan canyon, the camp is easily accessible by an oiled road, and is only five miles from the city of Parowan. Facilities Include an amphitheatre, barbecue pit, shelter, shel-ter, ball field and camp and picnic pic-nic spots provided with piped water, stoves, tables and play-ground play-ground equipment. Because of its low altitude and easy accessibility, Vermilion Castle Cas-tle gets plenty of early and late season use. The scenic drive in- to the mountain above the campground camp-ground attracts many visitors who want to try a different route to Cedar Breaks. |
