Show B.A.C. Appoints Temporary Music Instructors Interim appointments In the music department of the Branch Agricultural college will Insure a full program of activity in the music field pending the return from military service of Prof. Blaine Johnson, it was stated by Dr. H. Wayne Driggs, college director. Mr. Reed Berrett has been appointed ap-pointed temporary instructor in vocal music, and will direct the ladles' and men's choruses. There are large registrations in both classes, with some outstanding singers in each. .Instructing vocal ensembles during the current quarter is Mrs. Virginia Larson. She has had considerable experience in ensemble work, having directed the Rainbow Singers and other local groups. She was a member of the BAC faculty teachlnsr vo cal music during World War II while Professor Manning was at USAC In Logan. Mr. Berrett is director of the Master Singers and the Master Singers quartet which has won International recognition. Under the leadership of Prof. Roy L. Halversen a number of concerts are being planned, as well as some major musical productions. pro-ductions. The two glee clubs will present concerts, as will the concert con-cert band and the orchestra. A light opera, probably "New Moon" or 'The Student Prince" will also be staged during the winter quarter. Tentative plans are being made also for presentation presen-tation of an oratorio at Christmas Christ-mas time. Professor Johnson, now serving serv-ing in the U. S. Army was called to active service lust before the opening of school. Date of his release Is not definite, but college col-lege officials are hoping for his return at an early date to the college. |
