V j -l- ' sf ERLE COCKE, JR, r t-.y.V Dawson, Georgia, . tf National Commander, '-""V The American Legion & : """" Erie Cooke, Jr., elected na tional commander of the American Ameri-can Legion at the convention which ended last week in Los Angeles. Calif., will arrive in Cedar City Saturday afternoon as part of a c.oss-country tour of American Legion Posts. He is expected to depart from Richfield at 2 p. m. to keep his engagement here' in Cedar City, which includes an informal dinner din-ner with Legionnaires, followed by a public appearance in the school auditorium. The dinner for the Legionnaires Legion-naires will be held in El Escal-ante Escal-ante hotel, beginning at 5:30 p. m. A special feature of the affair af-fair will be a musical program presented by the American Legion Le-gion auxiliary trio, which captured cap-tured first place honors in the contest held at the national convention. con-vention. The new head of the world's largest veteran organization will then make his appearance at 8 p. m. in a soedal program in the public school auditorium. This event is open to the public and everyone ir ured to attend. Highlighting the program will be an address by Mr. Cooke and musical numbers by the auxiliary trio, the Cedar City Master Singers chorus, and the Lions club quartet. Purpose of th? tour, which began be-gan Oct. 16 at Carson City, Nev. is to spark advance membership throughout the nation and to. allow Legionnaires from the "Grass Roots" to get acquainted with their new national commander. com-mander.
