Show Senior Little League opens season CAPCO opened the Sr. Little League season by defeating Utah International 15-3. In the first inning Hunter got the only hit. His double helped bring about the three runs scored that inning. In the second inning it was six hits and six runs with Collins, Walerk, Soderquist, Reeves, Hunter and Paris all getting singles. There was no action in the third inning for the CAPCO team, but they came back in the fourth to get three hits and two runs with a double by Heap and singles by Evans and Paris. In the fifth inning five hits resulted in four runs as Reeves tripled and Walker, Soderquist, Evans and Heap got singles. Winning pitcher was Craig Soderquist with Hunter doing the catching. U I's pitching was done by Val Armstrong and Kevin Lundberg with Shawn Marchant behind the plate. Reber led the scoring effort with a a double while singles were hit by Armstrong (2), Smith and Ferguson. Rolling Rubber squeaked by Walker Bank 7-6 in the Tuesday Game. Walker Bank jumped out to a five run lead in the top of the first inning with singles by Waggoner and R. Pearson. Errors and walks accounted for the other players being in scoring position. The second inning added nothing to their score while the third inning showed K. Stanley, and J. STokes getting singles to pick up another run. Waggoner picked up the final hit of the game for the visitors with a single at the beginning of the fourth inning. in-ning. Alan Pearson went the distance on the mound for Walker Bank with Waggoner catching. Rolling Rubber was trailing at the end of the first . inning with a single by S. Leigh and errors and walks accounting for their three runs. They picked up another run in the second inning (but no hits) and neither in the third inning. A triple by Russum in the fourth inning resulted in him scoring and closing the gap. In the 5th inning a base on balls by D. Bulloch and stolen bases resulted in tieing the score and Ferdinand Fer-dinand got a single. The game was won by Rolling Rubber in the sixth inning when R. Dean walked and made it to third on passed balls and J. Myers brought him in with a single. J. Myers went the distance on the mound with S. Leigh catching. It was TWA all the way as they defeated Del Rich 18-2. TWA's pitcher A. Perry and catcher Roundy kept it a 0 hit, 0 run game for Del Rich until the top of the fourth when Nakken and Hulet were wlaked and managed to score. Smith got a single that inning. Thomas, Nakken and Hulet all took their turns throwing to Hulet for Del Rich but walks, and errors resulted in the lop-sided score. Only five hits contributed con-tributed to TWA's score. They wre doubles by A. Zundel and A. Perry; and singles by S. Hinton, N. Ludwig and R. Roundy. State Bank took CPN in another lop-sided game with an 18-3 score. Hitting singles for the winners were Esplin (3), B. Briggs, Olds, Jones (2), T. Taylor (3), Shakespeare, Olds, and McComas. A. Briggs tripled as did Jones and T. Taylor doubled. Jones and Taylor shared pitching ' duties with Esplin behind the plate. Contributing to CPN's scoring effort was a double by Staples. Pitching was done by Staples and Whitney with T. Neilson behind the plate. In their second game of the week, TWA defeated CPN 9-7. Singles were hit by J. Starr, N. Ludwig, S. Prestwich, M. Adams and R. Roundy. Pitchers were Hinton and Perry with Roundy catching. U I picked up their first win of the season with a 9-5 victory over Walker Bank. Scoring started in the second inning when Armstrong came in after getting walked and hitter Weaver got put out on first. Reber singled during that inning. In the third inning Petty doubled and Armstrong singled. The fourth inning saw C.Weaver getting on on an error and making it clear around to home on errors. He brought . in Reber for a score of 9. Armstrong went the distance on the mound for the ptichers with Marchant catching. Walker Bank's score came in the fourth and fifth innings in-nings as a result of walks and errors or stolen bases. They only had one hit, a single by K. Stapley. A. Pearson and R. Pearson did duty on the mound while Waggoner caught. The final two games of the week; Del Rich and State Bank and Rolling Rubber vs CAPCO were rained out and will be finished later. |
