Show Federation to equalize representation on board More representation on the Southwest South-west Utah Co-operative Power Federation's Board of Directors for Iron County and Cedar City as well as plans for inventorying CPNational's electric utility system in communities throughout southern Utah were the main topics discussed in an executive session of the federation's recently elected board, held in Cedar City last Sat. Ramon Prestwich, newly elected director and chairman of Cedar City's Power Board, was appointed to contact prospective candidates to sit on the board from Iron County and Cedar City. Since the new board's election in May, there has been community concern that Prestwich is the only representative on the nine member board from this area of southern Utah. Board member Carl Palmer of Salt Lake City reported that one or two of the board's members are willing to resign to make room for representatives represen-tatives from communities in Iron County. Palmer said that Prestwich will recommend names and that the board will select the new directors. Palmer said that the new directors will hopefully be appinted at an executive meeting scheduled for June 6 in Cedar City, and that board officers of-ficers will be elected at that time. A committee will also study and make recommendations on how to make the board's representation more equitable and responsive to consumers in the interested areas. The committee studying the question include Prestwich, Leon Bowler, who mmr is manager of the Dixie-Escalante REA, Glen Willardson who is manager of Garkane Power and Jess Pickett, who is a former board director and president of Parowan Valley Pumpers Assn. Advisors for the committee are St. George director Rudger McArthur, and federation attorney George Fadel. Inventory The federation will spend $12,000 to inventory CPNationals electric distribution system in member communities to determine the rate of return on the owner's equity in each incorporated area. The funding has been made available through the state's committee com-mittee on Consumer Services ulit-mately ulit-mately from the federal Department of Energy. R. E. Myers, engineering firm headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., will do the study. Palmer said that the group is now working to obtain additional ad-ditional funding to inventory the transmission lines and distribution systems in the unincorporated areas. Work will begin immediately according ac-cording to Palmer, Enterprise Mayor and federation director Alpine Bowler, will a act as liaison between each community and the engineering firm. Palmer said that Bowler will be contacting cities to get a detailed map of each city's boundaries and to arrange for a responsible person from each community com-munity to spend a day with an engineer in their community. The federation plans to use the inventory to go forward with condemnation con-demnation proceedings to obtain CPN's system and to determine the percentage portion of . each cityh's .
