The facility is the newest edifice to be build in Cedar City by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Open House slated for new Stake Center An open house will be held at the new Cedar City Utah West Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is announced by Jeffrey J. Marchant, stake president. -t A v The open house, and a Regional Conference, are the first scheduled activities in the newly constructed 25,217 square foot building. The open house, to which the public is invited to attend will be held on two evenings. The first will be Thursday, June 12 from 6 to 10 p.m. and the second will be Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. First activity in the building will be a Regional Cultural Arts Festival to be held on Friday, June 13 at 8 p.m. The Art Festival is a part of the Regional Conference which is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Jun 14. The new Stake Center has a chapel with seating capacity of 365, with additional seating in view of the pulpit to accomodate approximately 1400 people. The building features a baptismal font and adjoining dressing rooms, plus meeting rooms for children, the Relief Society and Priesthood. A large multi-purpose and a full sized basketball court are also a part of the stake complex. Included in the building are 25 classrooms and office space for the Stake Presidency and Stake High Council and offices for two Bishoprics with adjoining clerk offices. Blacktopping is the final phase of the construction that is moving forward to completion in anticipation of the open house and Regional Activities, Ac-tivities, President Marchant indicated. |
