Show Personal Histories theme of Records Conference Thousands of Utahns will be among those who take advantage ad-vantage of tips from Alex Haley and scores of other experts in researching and writing personal and family histories at the World Conference on Records August 12 through 15, 1980, at the Salt Palace. Conference registrants are expected from throughout the United States and from other parts of the Genealogical Society of Utah, the conference has a theme of "Preserving our Heritage," and the keynote speaker will be President Spencer W. Kimball, world leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to President Kimball and author Haley, of "Roots" fame, participating par-ticipating in the conference those 12 through 25 years of age. "Housewives, farmers, businessmen, teachers, students--you name it-everyone it-everyone can benefit from the information to be made available at the classes and seminars during those four days," Daniels said. "We hope to build a secure foundaton and knowledge within families about family history topics, presented by recognized scholars," he added. "The topics will be geared for those new to the field, but will also be challenging to more experienced ex-perienced researchers." These men and more than 200 other authors, archivists, historians, librarians, genealogists and demographers will speak or lecture in more than 250 seminars and classes. Registration for the entire four-day conference is $50 for those 26 years of age and older, with a special rate of $85 for couples. Registration for those 12 to 25 years of age is $25.
