Show Students receive Kiwanias Awards PAROWAN - Mr. Lee Fife of the Cedar City Kiwanis club met with members of the Parowan sixth grades last week, and presented some very special awards to four sixth grade students. Mr. Fife is 2nd vice president of the Kiwanis and gave the Hope of America awards to Sean Lamoreaux, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Lamoreaux; Kristen Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Allen; David Hamill, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hamill and Tammy Savage, daughter of Lee and Renee Savage. The students were chosen by the principal and teachers at PES for their scholastic achievements and leadership abilities. Each was presented with a plaque that read as follows: "With Honor to (student's name) who has demonstrated during this school year the capacity for leadership and ethical and moral character and the outstanding academic accomplishment which represent the Hope of Tomorrow" Mr. Fife told the students. "You are the hope of tomorrow, you will be the teachers and leaders of this country in a very few years." He urged them to set high goals in their lives and work h hard to achieve them. The Kiwanis present these awards each year to one boy and girl from each sixth grade in the area. Two were from Chester Benson's class and two were from Trudy Savage's class. Parents and grandparents were invited to the awards ceremonies at the school. |
