Show John Cottam Family Hold Reunion Saturday j The John Cottam family reunion held in the Tabernacle basement 'last Saturday afternoon centered around one of the older living members. Charles S. Cottam who passed his eightieth milestone on Sept. 16. A large group of local relatives and friends assembled for the event and an interesting program of games and stunts, with a feast of melons, fruit and nuls provided the entertainment. Charles S. Cottam was born in Salt Lake City, Sept. 16, 1861, a son of Thomas and Caroline Smith Cottam. He was but 15 months old when the family landed in St. George, Dec. 15, 1862, and has continued to reside here, where he has raised a large family. The program included vocal solos by George T. Thompson, Mrs. Von B. Cottam, Mrs. Lorin A. Little, and Miss Iris Warner; readings, Mrs. Albert E. Miller and Mrs. Mary Emmett of Richfield, Rich-field, and a brief sketch of Thomas Thom-as Cot tarn's life by Charles S. Cottam; piano dance and duet by Elaine and Emma Jean Hirschi, accompanied by Mrs. Hirschi, and an instrumental number by Mrs. Jesse Fish and son. Mrs. Nellie Gubler and Mrs. Edith Frei of Santa Clara presented a stunt and conducted the games and amusements. . ' i Mrs. Henry Pickett was general chairman for the event, and in the meeting Charles S. Cottam was made president of the local organization with his son, Charles Walter Cottam as secretary. They have scheduled an annual reunion for the family, date and place to be decided later. Family members attended from Escalante, Cedar City, and towns in this county with a total of 110 present. |
