Show NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Donald P. Seegmiller and Mason i Cottam left Wednesday morning for Provo, Utah, where they will enroll at the Brigham Young university. uni-versity. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Richards Rich-ards of Montpelier, Ida., were St. George visitors over Friday and Saturday, here to see Mrs. Richard's Rich-ard's father, Joseph MacDonald of Middleton, and other relatives and friends. Miss Uarda Knight left early Monday for Loa, in Wayne county, where she is to serve as public health nurse. She was formerly employed in Washington county. She has been a guest since last Tuesday of her aunt, Mrs. B. Jarvis. The two women spent Saturday Sat-urday in Zion National Park. Capt. Howard Cannon left Sunday Sun-day to rejoin his company at Camp San Luis Obispo. Word has come from Forsyth, Montana that Howard H. Carter is being released this week from the mission he is serving in that territory. According to word received this week Vivian C. Sullivan has been assigned to Company D, 29th Battalion Bat-talion at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Howard Morris and LaRaine McArthur left Tuesday morning for Provo where they will attend the B. Y. U. this coming winter. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. W. McAllister accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Willard Andelin and Miss Dorothy Dawn to Las Vegas last Saturday, where the Andelin's and Miss Dawn were presented in concert. On Sunday they went with them to Boulder Dam, staving over night in Boulder. Boul-der. The others left Monday for Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. McAllister returned home. The Andelins and Miss Dawn were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. McAllister the week that they were in St. George. Mrs. Clarence Cottam and daughters, Margery B., and Josephine, Jose-phine, with their friend, Miss Elaine Gwynn, all of Washington, D. C, visited in St. George Thursday Thurs-day and Friday enroute home from Alamo, Nev., where they have been for several days with Mrs. Cottam's mother, Mrs. Mary Brown. They left St. George Saturday Sat-urday morning for Provo, where they were joined by Mr. Cottam and went on from there Tuesday. Smith left St. George last Saturday morning for Provo, where she will join Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cottam for a vacation trip to Washington, D. C, to visit her sister, Mrs. Leslie Bell and other relatives, before returning to Provo to make her home for the present, having been transferred to that place recently. Her daughter, Miss Evelyn Smith, left for Provo Wednesday to register reg-ister at the B. Y. U. Miss Beulah Smith, another daughter, and Mrs. Smith's two sons, Darrel and Jordan, will remain for the present pres-ent with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Seegmiller. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Lytle left Wednesday for Provo with their daughter, Laura, who will enroU at the B. Y. U. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Thompson and children came down from Cedar City Saturday to attend the Cottam family reunion. Mrs. E. D. Seegmiller entertained enter-tained Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Clarence Cottam and daughters, daugh-ters, and Miss Elaine Gwynn of Washington, D. C. First place honors went to Mrs. Andrew McArthur at the regular weekly card party of the Bridge Ettes. Mrs. Karl Hutchings won second place honors. Mrs. Robert Pickett was hostess to the group who met Wednesday afternoon at her home. B. H. Forsythe of Toquerville visited in St. George over Thursday Thurs-day to Saturday with his sister, Mrs. Tina Macfarlane and other relatives. Stanley Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ray of Santa Clara underwent surgery at the local hospital, Sept. 23. Charles Pickett came down from Salt Lake City Tuesday, visiting vis-iting until this (Thursday) morning morn-ing when he returned with his mother, Mrs. E. J. Pickett. They will join Evan and sister, Mrs. Norma Wright at Provo. Evan will visit in St. George over the week-end before returning to Camp San Luis Obispo. Glenna Sullivan, small daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Sullivan of Leeds entered the local hospital hos-pital Sept. 24, for medical treatment. treat-ment. Mr. and Mrs. Henry ' Pickett motored to Salt Lake City Sunday on business, returning late Tuesday Tues-day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Therol L. McArthur Mc-Arthur returned to their home in Salt Lake City, Sunday, after a week's visit here. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barton of Cornado, Calif., were here visiting last week. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ostenson and daughter were week-end visitors in St. George. |
