Show Funeral Services Held In Enterprise For Mrs. Barbara Tobler Staheli ENTERPRISE, Utah. Funeral services were held here Monday, Sept. 22, for Mrs. Barbara Tobler Staheli who passed away at the Iron county hospital at 10:15 p. m., Friday. Bishop Arthur Barlocker conducted the services and H. M. Holt led the choir. The following very fine program was rendered: Song by the choir, "Tho Deepening Trials"; prayer, Joseph A. Terry; song, "O, My Father"; the first speaker was Bishop Henry Graff of Santa Clara. He spoke of his long acquaintance acquaint-ance with the family of their unselfishness, un-selfishness, their integrety, their love for the gospel, their outstanding outstand-ing musical ability and how they had been missed in the community after they had moved to Enterprise. Enter-prise. He said that Mrs. Staheli was the mother of eleven children, child-ren, nine of whom are still living. She also had 64 grand children and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also active in the Primary and was for years a member of the choir. Second Speaker Albert Holt was the second speaker arid expressed himself as feeling honored to be asked to speak on such an occasion. He had not known Mrs. Staheli for a very long time. He felt that by "their fruits they could be judged" and he knew and respected the Staheli family. He said he felt that women like the deceased were the characters who -helped others' to do good and thus roll on the great work here. He expressed ex-pressed the gladness of being able to live in a community with such people. A song, "Shall I Receive A Welcome Home?" by the choir, followed his talk. Arthur K. Hafen was the next speaker and he extended greetings greet-ings and sympathy from the Center Cen-ter ward bishopric and other friends in the Center ward and told of his long acquaintance with the family and endorsed all that had been said by previous speakers. speak-ers. Next was a duet, "Whispering "Whisper-ing Hope", by Alta Truman and H. M. Holt. Pres. Harold S. Snow of the St. George stake was the next speaker. speak-er. He told of the Staheli's faithfulness faith-fulness in church activities. He said they were faithful tithe payers pay-ers and always paid their share and more if necessary on all church projects. He then read two poems from Edgar Guest. Bishop Barlocker made a few closing remarks then the choir sang, "Resting Now, from Care and Sorrow." Closing prayer was by Seth M. Jones. Born In Santa Clara . Barbara Tobler Staheli was born Aug. 15, 1865, in Santa Clara. She was the daughter of Barbara Staheli and Jacob Tobler. Tob-ler. She was married to John Staheli, Jan. 18, 1882, in the St. George Temple. Eleven children were born to them, nine of whom survive. They are William C, Le-Roy Le-Roy and Clarence Staheli, Mrs. E. E. Huntsman and Mrs. George Tait all of Enterprise; George Staheli of Park City; Lafayette Staheli of Hurricane and Mrs. Vendon Coleman of Susanville, Calif. Also surviving are the following fol-lowing brothers and sister: George Tobler, Ernest Tobler of Santa Clara, William Tobler of Washington; Washing-ton; John Tobler of Boulder City and Mrs. Lillie Ence of Ivins, and Alfred Tobler of Mesquite. Mrs. Staheli has a host of friends in the various communities in which she lived and had lived an exceptionally religious life. She participated in all church activities ac-tivities and was a good friend and neighbor to all with whom she came in contact. |
