Show Dixie To Play Hinckley Here Friday In First Home Game of Year Dixie will open the home stand in six-man football Friday afternoon at 1 p. m. The Hinckley high school, newcomers in the league, will furnish the opposition. Hinckley Hinck-ley played eleven-man football last year. Dixie's fighting spirit, accompanied accompan-ied by injuries to Hurricane players, play-ers, made possible a mild upset last Friday, when the Flyers won from the Tigers oh the latter's field 20-14. Terry and Smith, two regulars from last year, were unable to play because of injuries previously previ-ously received, and though the substitutes gave a good account of themselves, Dixie was not to be denied. The Flyers scored before the first quarter was well underway, made the extra points through a kick, and were out in front 8-0. In the second quarter Hurricane scored a touchdown and took the ball over for an extra point. Dixie led at the half 8-7. Both teams played good defensive de-fensive ball during the third quarter, quar-ter, and the last canto was well under way before Dixie opened an offensive that gave them a 14-7 lead. Hurricane closed the gap in short order, and it looked as though the 14-14 tie would not be broken. Dixie, however, made another an-other spurt in the late minutes of the game to make another six points. Milford showed class in taking Parowan, defending champs, 18 to 6, while Cedar City trounced Hinckley 49-0. While Dixie is tackling Hinckley Friday, a team that learned considerable con-siderable in their first six-man game for both players and coach last week, Beaver will open with Cedar and Milford will come to Hurricane. The remaining schedule for Dixie is: October 3 at Beaver; October 8 at Cedar City; October 24 Milford Mil-ford at Dixie and October 31, Parowan Par-owan at Dixie. |
