Show Dixie College News Pres. Glenn E. Snow was chosen by the X club to be their sponsor for the school year. The X club is the college service club. Thomas Judd is president of the club. D.J.C. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Granger were the guest speakers at a special spe-cial assembly held Thursday morning morn-ing at the college. Mr. Granger, Utah representative in the United States Congress, described the status of the United States in the world conflict. Mrs. Granger gave a word picture of Washington, D. C, and the activities there. D. J. C. The Future Teachers met Monday Mon-day night, with Joseph Black, of Blanding, in charge. The objectives objec-tives of the organization were outlined. D. J.C. New Classes Organized Patrons of the college interested in work in choral speaking or play directing are invited to join the college classes organized in these subjects. Choral speaking is in reality a speech choir, with the speaking voices of sopranos, altos, tenors ans basses. Singing ability, how- i ever, is not necessary. It is open I to all who wish to improve their speaking voice. It meets at 3:00 p. rri., on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class in play directing meets at 1:15 daily. Directors of drama in M. I. A. and all others who desire training in this field are invited to take this work. Both classes are taught by Miss Myrtle Henderson. Those interested inter-ested should get in touch with her at once. D.J. C Annual Trip to Zion The annual trip to Zion, sponsored spon-sored by the Dixie college student stu-dent body, will take place Friday and Saturday, according to William Wil-liam Swapp, student president. The trek will start immediately after the football game with Hinckley Friday afternoon. In the late afternoon short hikes will be taken. A campfire program will be given in the evening, following fol-lowing which there will be a dance at the Zion lodge. Transportation will be provided those who wish to return to St. George after the dance. The remaining re-maining students will camp overnight over-night and go on a series of longer hikes the next day. H. L. Reid, park ranger and faculty member, will act as chief adviser for the students. |
