Show U Let's Buy Tickets To the Firemen's Ball The fire siren sounds ; we all watch anxiously to see which way the fire truck goes, and then breath a sigh of relief when it doesn't go our way. But, to those whose home, store, or other type of building is on fire, it is a welcome sight to see the fire truck arrive and watch the firemen get busy at putting out the fire. As you know7, these same firemen are doing this without compensation. They willingly drop whatever they are doing, climb out of bed at night or leave their recreation recre-ation to go to the assistance of those who are in need of their services. Now, they are coming to us and asking us to buy tickets to their Annual Firemen's Ball; one of the big dances of the year where everyone has a good time. They don't ask us for the money for these tickets for themselves. them-selves. They only ask us to contribute this small amount to help them buy needed equipment to give us better service. This year the St. George organization had the honor of being selected as the one to be host to the State Firemen's convention next year. In order to properly sponsor this event they will need additional funds. But, from a business standpoint, we again will receive more than we will give, since the visiting firemen will spend more money in this community than it takes to sponsor the convention. So, when you are asked to buy a ticket to the Firemens' Ball, make the fireman who asks you to buy the ticket feel that you really appreciate his services by reaching down gladly and digging up the money for the ticket. Also, you may be asked to buy a ticket for the quilt that the Firemen's Auxiliary are going to give away at the Ball. One feature of this' is that you don't have to be at the Ball to win so, don't try to give that as an excuse. The price of the ticket is small so that everyone should buy several. Funds from the sale of these tickets will be used by the ladies in helping to entertain the visiting visit-ing Auxiliary members at the convention next year. |
