I MODERN CLEANERS j 1 i I i A PROCLAMATION! BY THE GOVERNOR OF TIIE STATE OF UTAH WHEREAS,, throughout the nation the week of October 1st to 8th, 1941, has been designated as National Newspaper Week, and WHEREAS, It is fitting that the week be properly observed in Utah, NOW THEREFORE, I, HERBERT B. MAW, Governor Gov-ernor of the State of Utah, hereby designate the week of October 1st to 8th, 1941, as NEWSPAPER WEEK in Utah, and urge officials of local governments, civic organizations org-anizations and the public generally to take cognizance of the week and encourage and participate In proper observance of it in every community. The newspapers of Utah perform a very great service to this state. In addition to publishing the news of what is going on in the world, in the nation and in their local communities, com-munities, Utah's newspapers are constantly striving to serve the best interests of the people by fostering civic enterprises enter-prises and development and by encouraging the growth and progress of their communities and their state. At this time particularly, when over so large a part of the globe the freedom which is typified by a free press has been extinguished, we in America should cherish and defend our free newspapers. The deserve public cooperation and support and should have public attention and interest that they may be aided by the public to fulfill their responsibility res-ponsibility as guardians of American freedom. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Utah. Done at the Capitol, Salt Lake City, Utah, this seventeenth day of September, 1941. By the Governor Governor Secretary of State State of Utah.
