Show Father in delivery first at hospital in cesarean births Last Friday at 8:34 a.m. a baby girl was born cesarean section at the Ashley Valley Medical Center, but the birth was a special one for the father-he father-he was allowed into the operating room. It was the first time a father has been allowed in the operating room during a cesarean section at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. The 7 lb. 9'2 oz. girl was born to Shelly and Jimmy Haslam of Vernal. The baby was named Shilo. According to Adrianna McDonald, maternity nurse director, the surgery went very well and the staff were pleased to have the husband in the operating room. This is Mrs. Haslam's third cesarean section, and the second witnessed by her husband. Their second child was born in Salt Lake City. Fathers desiring to witness the cesarean section birth of their child are required to attend the hospital's cesarean section class.
