Show THEN: 1931. The Great Depression held most of the nation in the grip of despair, but on an unused baseball diamond next to the Victor Adding Machine Company, Dick Valentin spread a little cheer when he began to coach a boys' baseball team. Victor's president, Robert Buehler, determined to encourage en-courage the youths' camaraderie camara-derie and high spirits, formed the Paul Revere League. NOW: 1981. That club has evolved into the Neighborhood Neigh-borhood Boys Club. Still next door to Victor Business Products, the club has been a hub of activity and fun for some 10,000 boys, and is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary. It is still supported sup-ported with the help of Victor, too. That company pays the club's staff salaries, it donates its parking lot for the club's annual fund-raising carnival, it advertises in the annual community directory direc-tory of club members and its employees contribute time and energy to the club. |
