Those listed on the honor roll were Natalie Radosevich, Christy Triplett, Becky Barber, Marshall Briggs, Dawn Sikich, John Thompson, Shelley Bernard, Michelle Charette, Matthew Briggs, Michelle Steinaker and Susie Cook. Daggett County Council of Fine Arts is sponsoring a puppet show by the "Tears of Joy Puppet Show" sponsored by the Utah Council of Fine Arts. The show is entitled "The Happy Prince." This show was adopted from the Oscar Wilde short story by the same name. It is a delightful and sensitive tale of a statue and a swallow who together demonstrate an extraordinary vision of love and charity. The story was adapted for puppet theatre by Reg Bradley. The music was composed by Jeff Leventhal and arranged by Frick Funk. The show will be in Manila at the high school at 7 p m. Monday, April 21. Tickets will be sold by Fine Arts Council members and at the door. Due to such a short time to sell tickets, tickets have been lowered to no cost for preschoolers. $1 for elementary' school children, $1 50 for high school students and $2 for adults. Children will especially be delighted with this. The Daggett County Fine Arts Council met at the Manila High School art room on Wednesday, April 9 at 4 p m While most of the discussion was on the puppet show "Happy Prince" to Ix- shown on April 21. a film "Utah Festival of Arts" was shown. Posters were distributed for Manila's coming Arts Festival. Manila will be participating in the Utah Festival of the Arts on the local level. Governor Scott Mattheson has proclaimed April 21 to April 27 "Utah Festival of Arts for the Young." Manila has scheduled 3 events for that week 1. April 21 "Tears of Joy Iuppet Theatre", 2. Wednesday, April 23, Sylvia Rosser's Dancing School IH-rform. and 3. Friday, April 25. Talent Show and art exhibit. Anyone who has a talent they would like to present, please notify Shelly Bernard at the Manila High School. The sheep and pit project members met at the Manila High School cafeteria with their leader William Robinson. Tickets for the Sweetwater County 4-H drawing were distributed. Each member received 10 tickets to sell. Books were also 1 distributed. After the business meeting was over a word scramble which has been prepared by recreational leader Lisa Briggs was played. Mrs. Curtis Slaugh accompanied her daughter and son-in-law Mr. Mrs. Leon Brady of Green River, Wyoming to Salt Lake City, Utah to go through the temple with the Brady's son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Brady. The drove to Arimo, Idaho to visit Mrs. Slaugh's grandson and his w ife. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Peterson and their children. They visited another granddaughter and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Anderson. They also visited her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Loo Slaogoski in Idaho Falls. Idaho. Elsie Twitchell is home in Manila again. She has been away since she became ill last summer. Her health is greatly improved. He sister Tillie Bascom and her niece Carma Bryant of Payson. Utah brought her home. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Briggs and children from Tremonton, Utah were visiting at the home of Dale's parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Briggs last week. Devan Long and a friend Wendi Christiansen visited with Devan's parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Long this weekend. Devan is in his second year at USU. Bobbie Reed and a friend Paul Mattson of Salt Lake City, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Reed, Jr., also, dinner guest at the Reed home Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Harris and son David of Duchesne and Martha Nelson of Manila. Beatrice Rood is home after spending 2 months in Vernal visiting her daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. John Parker and daughers. Juanita Ellsworth and granddaughter grand-daughter Do.aree Ellsworth, Christa Jensen and daughter Janita, and Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson were in . Roosevelt Saturday for the wedding of Robinson's niece UiDonna Haslem to Brent Gilbert. Manila Ward niomlvrs are invited to attend a farewell testimonial for Genevieve Siler Sunday morning in Green River and an open house that evening. Doyle Slagowski underwent surgery in Salt Lake City last week. The M&I, llomemaker's Club lold a card party at the Manila High School cafeteria at 7 p.m. with a large crowd in attendance. Members brought white elephant items for prizes for the various card games and bingo. Shrimp salad, hot rolls, coffee and hot chocolate were served by hostesses Ferl Briggs and Doris Zohnor. The regular M&L llomemaker's meeting will be held at the Manila High School cafeteria on Thursday, April 17. This will be on microwave cooking |
