Uintah Community Concert program scheduled Saturday Concert accordionist, Christian Di-Maccio, Di-Maccio, will perform before members of the Uintah Community Concert Association in the Vernal Junior High School Auditorium Saturday, April 19. According to Curtis May, Community Concert Association president, it will be the last concert of the 1979-80 season. Anyone who is not an association member may attend the concert by purchasing pur-chasing a 1980-81 membership at the door, thus making it a bonus concert. Di-Maccio was born in Algiers in 1941 to an Italian father and a Spanish mother. He was endowed with an exceptional ex-ceptional musical talent and performed as an accordionist for the first time when he was three years old. He could read musical scores by age five. In 1952, he won the first prize of accordion ac-cordion in the North African contest. Between 1955 and 1959, he won the French accordion championships three times as well as several international awards. In 1968, he was selected to head one of Paris' top municipal music conservatories. In the course of his career he has performed on five continents, and in conjunction con-junction with his concert tours, he has conducted his own dance orchestra which performed in Europe's casinos. He was selected as the official conductor conduc-tor for the Winter Olypmics of 1968 in Grenolbe, France. Di-Maccio has also starred, either as a soloist or with his entire orchestra on TV shows in France, West Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, Canada, the United States and the USSR. He is currently cur-rently starring in a unique show featuring featur-ing his two children who are also considered con-sidered prodigies. Attendance at Community Concerts is by membership card only, and members are reminded that they may bring out-of-town guests with them. Any member who is unable to attend may loan his or her membership card so someone else may enjoy the concert. ' Curtain time is 8: 15 p.m. Those attending atten-ding should be in their seats before curtain cur-tain time. Children and students are required re-quired to sit with an adult. |
