Show TransWestern Airlines stops Vernal flights After serving the Vernal area for six months. TransWestern Airlines has decided to pull back its airline service to the local area. April 15 was the last scheduled TransWestern flight into Vernal, according to Charles R. Petersen, president. Petersen said Monday, "Vse are noi writing the Vernal schedule off, we are optimistic that we will be able to come back, but right now we do not have enough passengers to meet our increasing in-creasing costs." Petersen said TransWestern needed at least five passengers per flight to keep the Vernal sen-ice. With the increasing in-creasing fuel cost and the present economy the board has decided to pull back, Petersen said. This same problem is rxing experienced iu ivloab. The anticipated new service to Richfield Rich-field and Price is also being scrubbed unless a guaranteed number of passengers can be assured for these areas. The Grand Junction Salt I.;ike City flights are holding un good, this is because they are non-stop. 1 ne passengers do not like to stop between flights into smaller areas, explained Petersen. Under deregulation we can come back anytime we can get the support of the community. Our $.',9 air fare from ! Vernal to Salt I.akc City was a good attraction and we would like to come back, concluded Petersen. i |
