Show Air Force Major in outstanding unit in Berlin Major James N. Vernon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris J. Vernon, Vernal, is a member of an organization that has received the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Out-standing Unit Award in Berlin at Temphelhof Central Airport. The U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award is earned by members of an Air Force unit for exceptionally meritorious service or outstanding achievement that clearly sets the unit apart from similar units. Major Vernon received a bachelor's degree in 1966 from the University of Utah at Salt Lake City. He earned a master's degree in 1968 from the University of Pittsburg, and was commissioned through Officer Training School, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. In 1970 he earned another master's degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. His wife, Helen, is the daughter of Edna Enelow of Pittsburg. costs or crude oil upgrading would be an estimated $4.48 per barrel of oil, he added.
