Show W.S. Hatch Company honors drivers at SLC breakfast W. S. Hatch Company held its 27th annual safety breakfast for its in-termountain in-termountain terminals, Saturday, April 12 at the Tri-Arc Travel Lodge in Salt Lake City. The awards were for the men from Carson, California, Ely and Henderson, Nevada, Geneva, Delta, Vernal, Woods Cross, Salina, and Roosevelt, Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Twin Falls, Idaho. Zep employee of the year was Jack Otterstrom, of Woods Cross. Breakfast was served to over 200 guests. As each man received his Safety Award, a corsage was pinned on his wife and a picture was taken. Each were congratulated by Larry Mills, vice president and general manager, Harry Williams, operations manager, Jil Telford, director of fleet safety and verious terminal managers or driver-supervisors. driver-supervisors. Those attending from Vernal were: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Milton "Cork" Hacking, Mr. and Mrs. Ray James, Mr. and Mrs. Philo Carter, Floyd Rudder, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Hatch, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alexander, . Mr. and Mrs. Dean Huber. Attending from Heber, working out of -Vernal, were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Carley, Mr. and Mrs. Dan McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs. Deloy McKenzie, and Mr. and Mr. Lavar Daybell. Attending from Roosevelt, working out of the Vernal terminal were, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ames and shop foreman Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brough. Total number of safety years out of the Vernal Dinah-Phos Dinah-Phos Division Terminal were 84. Vernal's oldest driver is Lawrence Allen with 14 years. Lawrence was awarded special recognition by receiving a complete uniform, and a loud applause from his friend and fellow workers. This makes the second uniform that he has earned. The special guest speaker was Jake Gam, United States Senator from Utah, who was introduced by Carol Mills, traffic manager. Presentation of special awards were by Mrs. W.S. Hatch, president of the company, and Larry Mills, vice president. Presentation of a special award went to Mr. Jim Telford for 20 years service was by Ray Fadel, Farmers Insurance Group. Green and white golf caps were presented to Senator and Mrs. Jake Garn, with Hatch Company and its insignia of the Western United States on the front. Dean Huber, Vernal terminal manager, was the Master of Ceremonies and Harold Alexander, Vernal driver supervisor, and Paul Jensen, assistant safety, passed the mike around for the men to introduce themselves and their partners. Invocation In-vocation was by driver-salesman, Ivan Mecham, Geneva. Vernal treminal drivers receiveing one year awards were Leo Ames, Bennie Barker, Philco Carter, James Cook Milton Hacking, Don Lewis, DeLoy McKenzie, Kris Porritt, Eddie Price, Floyd Rudder, and Leo Scott. Ernest Webb, two years, Ralph Burnes . and Doyle Perry, four years, Glenn Daniels, Norman Fletcher, Roy James, Frank Shuman, six years, Dan McKenzie, 12 years, Chester Gardiner, 13 years, and Lawrence Allen, 14 years were also given awards. Roosevelt shop were: Richard Bourgh and Terry McKee, one year. |
