Show Uirrfah girl tracfisers nab eighf firs place rifles Uintah High School's girl tracksters captured eight first place titles, but Tooele nipped the Uintah Utes in a dual meet in Vernal, April 9 by the score of 78 to 51',2. Kim Hamblin and Pennie Murray were double first place winners for the Uintah Utes. Kim placed first in long jump with a leap of 15'3 V and nabbed first place in the high jump at 5'0". Pennie Pen-nie Murray won the 400 meter run, 1:03.7 and the 800 meter run, 2:46:53. Juanita Bates placed first in the 3200 meter run (2 mile) at 14:26.12 and Kathy Chivers nabbed top honors in the 100 meter dash at 13.53. Uintah's Juanita Bates, Kathy Chivers, Kaye McDowell and Johnna Wiseman placed first in the 800 medley relay at 2:05.42 and Kathy Chivers, Pennie Murray, Maddy Shirner and Kim Hamblin nabbed first place in the 400 relay at 55.42. Teresa Smith pocketed second places in the shot put and discus, 98'1 V. Uintah's Uin-tah's 1600 meter relay team, Irene DeLambert, Lisa Jorgensen, Darion Abegglen and Markay Caldwell, placed second. Nabbing third places for Uintah were: Maddy Shirner, 100 meter dash, 14.40; Markay Caldwell, 1600, 6:56.94; Susie Feltch, shot put, Javelin, 77'9";' Lisa Jorgensen, discus, 88'5V2V and Pennie Murray, long jump, 14'H". Tooele had double first place winners in Gordon, shot put, discus, gs1" and Hawkins, javelin, 110'5", 300 intermediate in-termediate hurdles, 55.33. Also nabbing first place titles were Bareclough, 200, 26.48; Hullinger, 1600, 6:39.50 and Shepard, 110 high hurdles, 17.09. Uintah's girl tracksters will battle Jordan on the road April 23 and will host Murray, Tuesday, April 29. Uintah High School's girl track team nabbed fourth place in the Palisade Invitational in Grand Junction, Colorado, Saturday with 46 points. Gunnison, Colorado, placed first at 190 and Palisade netted second place at 100 points. Necula, Colorado nabbed third place with 50 points. Pennie Murray pocketed first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:34.40 and the Utes' 800 meter relay team, Maddy Shirner, MarKay Caldwell, Kathy Chivers and Pennie Murray, nabbed first place with a time of 2:04.24. The Utes' 400 meter relay team, Maddy Shirner, MarKay Caldwell, Kim Hamblin and Kathy Chivers, placed fourth at 54.6. Kim Hamblin tied for third place in the high jump at 4'11". She lost the coin flip and placed fourth. Lisa Jorgensen placed sixth in the shot put at 28'4l4". |
