Show Cub Scouts to celebrate 50th anniversary In conjunction with the 50th anniversary an-niversary of the Cub Scouts of American (CSA), Cub Scouts may earn a special patch to wear on their uniforms during 1930. The requirements for the patch of- fered to Cub Scouts in the Uintah ) District are: complete three achievements or earn three activity badges, attend at least one month's ) meetings, den meetings, pack meeting with parents and church meetings, and give at least three hours of service to a ' worthy cause. Since this is a temporary patch, the J boys should receive it soon after they )earn it. The Cub District Staff suggest it be given at the monthly pack meeting. The patch will be available only during 1980. The CSA is looking for adults who are former Cub Scouts to help celebrate the organization's 50th anniversary. Anyone who was a Cub Scout during the 1920's, 1930's, or 1940's can help the Cub Scout Council find its roots by sharing ) knowledge of early Cub Scout Packs, s early uniforms, literature, names of . people involved -Cub Scouts or leaders during the early days of Cub Scouting ., . January 7 at 7 p.m. in the Naples j chapel will be a Cub Training Session No. 2 for everyone and No. 3 for Den Leaders and assistants. January 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ashley Stake Center, will be recharter night. All charters will be turned in at this time. January 17, Thursday at 7:20 p.m. in a the Ashley Stake Center will be Round-table Round-table which will cover ideas and themes for the 50th anniversary. Therewill be a - Webelo section also. February 2 to 9 is Scout Week. February 3 is Scout Sunday. Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to church and this would be a good time to have a Scout Program during chur-y chur-y ch. 1 February 1 window displays need to J be put up by 6 p.m. to earn the 20 points J for promptness. Points will be awarded Tf, for appearance 20, boys handiwork 20, 51' following theme 20, and 20 for pack O identification. First, second and third j places will be awarded at the Scout Cir-Y Cir-Y cus. The district needs to know the loca- J tion of the displays so they can be judg-ed judg-ed Feb. 1. February 23 will be the Cub Circus at the Vernal Jr. High School. The circus will include, pinewood derby, boat derby, der-by, uniform inspections, games, songs, a sparklers, obstacle course, zoo area, knot tying and 50th anniversary ideas. The pinewood derby check-in will be t from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and no car X will run if checked in after 11:30 a.m. except Dutch John. The cars cannot have modified axles or be over five ounces. T Opening ceremony to start the circus will be at 12:30 p.m. the games and knot ii tying will go until 2 p.m. and the derby will go from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be no charge at the circus and hot dogs, pop and goodies will be on sale to help pay for trophies, ribbons, and prizes for the circus.
