Show Bob Burns Faces New Suit By Old Acquaintance On Charge of Love Piracy LOS ANGELES (AP) Expressing determination to "go through with thU thing," Daniel W. Hoge, 55, petroleum engi neer, laid Wednesday he would file a second suit naming film and radio comedian Bob Burns a divorce action against his estranged wife, Mrs. Mollie Hoge, 38. Hoge sued Bums and his studio, Paramount, and others Monday for $70,000 false Imprisonment damages, dam-ages, charging he was forced under threats of violence to sign a denial that Burns had stolen the affections, affec-tions, of Mrs. Hoge and also a paper releasing the studio from any claims. "I have plenty of evidence to back me up when my case gets Into court, Hoge said. He did not Indicate when a divorce action would be instituted. Mrs. Hoge said she was "utterly amazed" at the damage suit, "because "be-cause there never was anything between Mr. Burns and me but a casual friendship that existed because be-cause he waa an old friend of my husband's." "It's ridiculous," she said, "for Dan to say that Burns ever made love to me. He certainly Isn't the type in which I'd be Interested, anyway." Mrs. Hoge said she and her hus-band hus-band separated tn 1933. Burns, In also denying the charges, described the damage action ac-tion as a "nuisance suit that will have to be disposed ef la the usual course." He asserted that "as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing to fight about," but that ha would not attempt at-tempt to evade service of the suit Burns said he would confer tomorrow to-morrow with Jacob Karp, a Paramount Para-mount lawyer, who la one of the defendants. |
