Show Hoyt Smith Plights TrotK , With Frie&l Pf eif er At Cathedral Ceremony 1 Miss Hoyt Smith, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Smith, 1370 Military way, entered St Mark's cathedral Tuesday evening eve-ning on the arm of her father to become the bride of Friedl Pfeifer of Sun Valley, Idaho, internationally known ski champion, cham-pion, at one of the most fashionable weddings of the season. A large number of friends of the couple gathered in the beautifully beau-tifully decorated cathedral before the ceremony. Low boxes filled with lovely white, full-blown tulips tu-lips were placed in front of masse Of deflexus ferns In the window recesses, which were lighted by Whit cathedral tapers In sconces. Masses of woodwardia combined with tulips, white flowering peach blossoms and sprays of white larkspur lark-spur were at the entrance to the choir stalls and similar bouquets of the flowers filled the brsss altar vases. The chancel was lighted with myriads of white cathedral tapers and the rood screen was banked with peach blossoms and larkspur. Attendants Wear Ore) As guests waited for the bridal party, the cathedral organist, Mrs. Roger L. Strobe 1, played appro-bridal appro-bridal chorus from Lohengrin signaled sig-naled the arrival of the party and Mendelssohn's wedding march was the recessional. . The bridesmaids entered the cathedral ca-thedral from the sacristy, walking double 'file past the transcepts down the center aisle, where they took their places forming an aisle-' Jay through which the bride and er father walked. They stood In ront of pews which were marked jvith bouquets of white tulips tied yvith satin ribbons. , Their gowns were lovely youthful youth-ful models in a creme de menth Shade of green in starched chiffon. They were made with shirtwaist necklines with little lac collars, three-quarter length full puffed sleeves edged In lac and bouffant skirts with Inserts of handsom lac In the bodies and above the hemline of th skirt. They wore hslo hsts of th same material with sprsys of whit bouvardia facing the -brims ana carried fans of bouvardia and whit sweet peas. Th matron of honor, Mrs. John Abbott of Pasadena. Cal was gowned Ilk the other attendants, except that she wore a matching shirred Jacket and her hat was a turban of white flowers. Other attendants Included Miss Msry Jan Felts, maid of honor; Miss Peggy Merry. Miss Josephine Crltchlow, Miss Gloria Bamberger and Miss Janet Brown, all of Salt Lake City; Miss Lucia Stevenson, MlssManT Jo Lomai "snd-MItt Marian Terwllllger, all of whom were classmates of th bride at Scrtpps college, Claremont. Cal, and Mrs. Otto Lang of Sun Valley, attending matron. The young bride was charming In her beautiful gown, an original model of rich white duchess satin. It was fashioned with a high cowl neckline, long sleeves which extended ex-tended Into points over her wrists, snd a full skirt which swept Into a long circular train. Her enveloping envelop-ing veil of bridal Illusion and her dainty face veil fell from a becoming be-coming headdress of net with tiny calls lilies and orang blossom trim. Her bouquet was a fan-shaped fan-shaped arrangement of lilies of th vslley and baby white orchids. The bridsl psrty followed the bride to the chancel steps, where they Joined the bridegroom and the best msn, Otto Lang of Sun Valley, and the officiating clergymen, clergy-men, the Rt. Rev. Arthur W. Moul-ton, Moul-ton, bishop of the Episcopal diocese dio-cese of UUh, and Dean Franklin L. Gibson of the cathedral. Ushers Included Robert W. Mof-fst. Mof-fst. Walker Wallace and Raymond M. Reception at dtali After th ceremony a large reception re-ception was held in the beautifully decorated Lafayette ballroom at the Hotel Utah. White tulips were combined with peach blossoms snd potted ferns to form a lovely background back-ground for the receiving line. Torcheres - held white cathedral tapers at each end of the artistic arrangement Woodwardia feme were charmingly arranged In plaques at intervals along the walls and boxes filled with tulips and blossoms banked the orchestra pit A handsome four-tiered wedding cake topped with a tiny bridal couple under a miniature bower of flowers centered th long serving table, and bouquets of tulips were on each side with garlands of greens extending to th ends of the table. Mr. Pfeifer and his bride left during the evening for a wedding trip and will make their home In Sun Valley, where he is hesd of the ski school. The bride's traveling travel-ing costume was a suit of navy blue with a white blouse and bright red accessories. Goes to Coast Mrs. Elsie M. Berry of Wsthing-ton, Wsthing-ton, D.
