Show Springville VFW Lease Home, Land Members of VFW Art City Post 5787 are combining efforts to remodel re-model an old home into a clubhouse. club-house. According to Karl Measom, club reporter, the home is the former Newman home west of the U. S. Fisheries station North of Springville. Spring-ville. It and the 11 acres of land surrounding have been leased by the organization for a five-year period. Two rooms of the new clubhouse club-house are almost ready for occupation occu-pation and work on the kitchen and large recreation room is planned for the near future. Members Mem-bers of the post have done all the plastering, painting and Tepair-ing Tepair-ing in their spare time. The surrounding grounds will be cleared and a picnic area, target tar-get range and other facilities constructed. con-structed. Smith, quartermaster; quarter-master; Norman Smith, chaplain; Dan B. Alleman, post advocate and Mr. Measom, reporter. Since their organization, the local post has had numerous projects pro-jects which they have carried out very successfully. Among them during the past year has been operation op-eration of a ski run for young-; young-; sters, participating in the Chris i Kringle Corporals campaign for needy families, sponsoring a marble mar-ble tournament, softball teams, basketball teams and boxing match, mat-ch, for the younger set. |
