Show Plans Take Shape For Big July 4 Centennial Fete Preliminary plans for one of the major centennial year observances to be conducted on July 4, under the direction of the local Chamber of Commerce were outlined at a meeting Tuesday evening, under the direction of W. J. Phillips, Chamber president. Grant Thorn was appointed to serve as chairman of the celebration celebra-tion committee and Arvil Bird was named vice-chairman. The meeting was attended by representatives from practically every civic organization including the Kiwanis club, the City Recreation Recrea-tion committee, the Hobble Creek Riding club, the . Jaycees, VFW, Sportsmens' Association, the American Legion, Lions club, 20-30-s', and Chamber of Commerce. Another meeting is set for next Tuesday evening, March 28, at 7:30 p.m., at the City Hall in which more definite plans concerning the program to be carried out on the July 4 Centennial celebration, will be made. Anyone who has a suggestion as to the type of program or on any other phase of the entertainment, is invited to the meeting. Club representatives and civic leaders are also being invited. |
