Show Opening Art Program, First Centennial Event To Take Place Friday March 31 ! Springville will officially usher in the centennial year observance Friday. March 31, when the open-ins: open-ins: program of the annual national April Art Show will be held in the high school gymnasium, according to an-nounment an-nounment by P. C. Packard, Centennial Cen-tennial committee chairman. The program is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., with Mark E. Peterson of Salt Lake City to deliver the address. Mayor Edward Clyde will make the official opening speech. A choral group from the B. Y. U. will furnish selections as will Gordon Childs and company who are scheduled to furnish string music. Charles Boyer of the centennial cen-tennial committee will be in charge of the program. All stores will be closed for the opening art program and the general gen-eral public is urged to make plans now to attend this first centennial event. Mr. Packard stated today in answer to a number of inquiries, that the centennial committee does not necessarily have to be contacted contac-ted by groups or organizations wishing to hold a centennial program pro-gram or other event with a centennial cen-tennial theme. The Centennial Committee will have charge of the major centennial centen-nial celebrations but organizations organiza-tions are urged to emphasize the centennial theme in their various meetings and program throughout the remainder of the year. A complete outline of the opening open-ing Art program will be announced in the Herald next week. |
