DENY DESIGNS ON SYRIAN TERRITORY NEW YORK, Dec. IS. Asserting that France has no ambition whateer in connection con-nection with territory in Syria, the French official bureau of information declared in a statement, issued here tonight, that all France intends to claim at the peace conference as regards Syria Is that the Syrian people shall have self-determination. "The French government has had nothing noth-ing to do with these manifestations and did not give birth to them. Syria, in accordance ac-cordance with one of the fourteen principles prin-ciples stated by the President of the United States, has the right to freely choose her own status and if her status is to be under the French protectorate it will be because she will have made the request not because France will have insisted in-sisted on it."
