Show DID NOT ADVOCATE OPEN AIR HEATING BOISTO, Idaho, Dec. 18. Joseph Burns of Pocatello, Jdaho, Nonpartisan league campaigner, who last fall repeatedly attacked at-tacked tho power companies of Idaho for not furnishing cheap power for Idaho homes, appeared today before the public utilities commission, after having been subpoenaed to testify in the hearing being be-ing held on the question of the feasibility feasi-bility of developing electric heating from w a tcr-power sites. Burns bad prepared a written statement state-ment for the commission in which he stated that he has had no technical training in the subject of hydroelectric power, and that his charges have been made as the result of observation and experience. His statement also declares that be believes Idaho to have a possible possi-ble water-power development of more than 5,0110,000 horsepower. He also reiterates reit-erates his belief that under state ownership owner-ship this power can be delivered at 1V4 cents per kilowatt, whereas now the people peo-ple of the state pay from $8 to $10 per ton for coal. Burns denied that he has ever advocated advo-cated open-air heating by electricity as feasible. He, says the electricity should be used to beat- water for hot-water heating plants. |
