Show 'UNCLE SUW TO CURB Rigid Ordinance Passed by Commission on Government's Govern-ment's Request. An ordinance imposing stringent re-' strictions as to the sale of explosives, firearms and ammunition was passed at a special meeting of the city commission commis-sion yesterday afternoon in response to request of the federal government. Under the ordinance every sale of explosives ex-plosives of whatsoever nature must be a matter of record with the police department. de-partment. Any business house making a sale of firearms, ammunition or explosives ex-plosives of anv kind or nature must furnish fur-nish the chief of police with full information in-formation as to the name of the purchaser pur-chaser or recipient, tho purpose for which the ammunition or explosive is obtaiued and the quantitv purchased. Knaetment of the ordinance was a matter of but a few minutes' deliberation deliber-ation with tho city commission, the vote being called almost immediately after it was read. The action was unanimous. unani-mous. L'nder its provisions no purchase or explosives of any kind may be accomplished accom-plished bv anv person without exact information in-formation as to the nature of the purchase pur-chase and the person making it being transmitted to the police. While there is nothing in the ordinance ordi-nance to prevent a purchaser from obtaining ob-taining ammunition or explosives for a legitimate purpose, his purchase will be known and his use of the explosive purchased pur-chased subject to observation. Auy application ap-plication or evident intent to apply the explosives purchased to any purpose inimical in-imical to the interests of the government govern-ment will result in swift action and arrest. ar-rest.
