OCR Text	Show RECOMMENDS TWO FOR LIEUTENANTS Sergeant Ben Cherkin of the Salt Lake recruiting station has been recommended recom-mended by Captain J. D. Watson for promotion to the rank of first lieutenant lieuten-ant of artillery in the regular army. Sergeant Floyd E. Schaffer was recommended rec-ommended for appointment as second lieutenant of cavalry. Corporal George F. Smith has been recommended for appointment ap-pointment as a first lieutenant of infantry. in-fantry. According to Captain Watson these men have proved themselves to be exceptionally ex-ceptionally worthy, and the hope has been conveyed to the Washington officials offi-cials that their promotions will be favorably fa-vorably acted upon.
