On his arrival here today in the custody of four members of the duma, Nicholas Romanoff, the deposed emperor, em-peror, was turned over immediately to the Tsarskoe-Selo commander and taken : , to the Alexandrovsky palace, where the i'ornier Empress Alexandra already was interned. The special train carrying the former ruler arrived at 1:30 o'clock on ' the branch line outside Alexundrovsky park. On leaving thv1 train Nicholas entered en-tered an automobile, ..accompanied by his adjutant, Prince Dolgoroukoff, the only courtier of the first rank who accompanied ac-companied him, and by, the four duma commissioners. They were driven to the palace. Nicholas was met at the door in the left wing of the palace by Count Benc-kendorfx, Benc-kendorfx, who was his marshal of the court and is now under arrest. The former for-mer ruler held himself erect, looking calm and indifferent, although he vous haste. A battalion of the First rifle guard regiment was at the railroad depot. Nicholas Handed Over. The commander at Tsarskoe-Selo is Colonel Kobuilinsky, formiTIv commander comman-der of the Petrogradsky regiment, stationed sta-tioned in peace time at Warsaw. The correspondent drove to the old Tsarskoe-Selo palace, which is deserted and without guards, and then to the ' new palace, whore the former imperial family is interned. The palace lies in a large park, which is surrounded by a plain, spiked fence, five feet high, coated coat-ed with silver paint?. Within the park, over the broad expanse of snow, not a : single person was visible. Apparently there were no guards within the park, but outside the fence, every fifty yards along the roadway, were double sentries from the Petrogradsky regiment in long blue coats, with fixed bayonets. Appearance of Desolation. Near the east wing of the palace is a detached building which formerly served as a kitchen. It is now occupied by the staff officer in command of the troops guarding Nicholas. Further on is the ' chief part of the palace, a long, two-story two-story building of pale yellow stucco, with white Corinthian columns reaching ; to the roof and two vast projecting side wings. The palace, when seen through a blinding snowstorm, makes a desolate and unattractive appearance. Children Have Measles. Concerning Alexandra and other mem-bers mem-bers of the family the following information infor-mation was given: All the five children chil-dren are in bed with the measles, for which reason Alexandra has not been outside the palace walls for two days. So far as is known no order has been issued preventing her from walking about the grounds. She has been forbidden for-bidden to use the telephone and telegraph tele-graph or have any communication with the outside world. This morning she requested permission td telephone to Princess Paratoff, a friend, asking as to her health. The request was refused, i. In a big room on the first floor the correspondent found several persons in civilian dress, formerly palace spies and provocative agents.
