The followers of Irii figure fig-ure that he has the punch and will be able to reach lianicau in such ;l way as to put him down for the count before the end of the tenth round is reached. On the other hand", Barrieau's friends say that he has the edge in cleverness and Is by no means lacking in steam. They rely on, his skill as a boxer principally, prin-cipally, and take the view that Irish cannot can-not put him out in ten rounds and the Canadian will be awarded the decision. The boxers will receive 50 per cent of the gross receipts, which will lie split on ; the basis of 75 per rent to the winner 1 and 25 per cent to the loser. j The match is attracting more atten- 1 tfon than any previous contest that lias 1 been staged here. The winner of this bout will be given an opportunity to meet Eddie Johnson on Tabor day, and as such a match will draw an exceptionally exception-ally large house, both Barrieau and Irish are particularly anxious to win the battle next Saturday night. As a curtain raiser, Joe Pistone and Elmer Teeter, two clever local boys, will go six rounds. There is considerable rivalry between the two, and each is anxious not to have his career marred at an early stage, so an interesting bout is looked for. Reserve seats are in groat demand, and Promoter Chambers states that he fears it will be difficult to handle the large crowd that will be eager to see the match. |
