Show ANGLO-BELGIAN FORCES PROGRESS IN EAST AFRICA LONDON, Aug. 1. British troops operating op-erating in German East- Africa have occupied the port of PanganI, on the east coast, says an official statement given out tonight. The Anglo- Belgian forces in the region of Victoria Nyanza are reported to be making progress." The statement follows: "Lieutenant Colonel Vande venter took 1000 head of excellent cattle while advancing ad-vancing on Dodona. Farther east Major General Hoskins has been clearing the country south of the Usumbara railway. The port of Pangani has been taken and minor columns are pressing the enemy southward between the Nguru hills and the coast. "The Anglo-Belgians are progressing in the region of Lake Victoria Nyanza fiom their bases at Lake Ports." |
