Show PARKER INDORSED, BUT NOT HUGHES Ml-W ORTiKANS, Ln., Aug. 1. The Louisiana state Progressive convention held here todav indorsed the nomination of John M. Parker of this state for vice president., but failed to ratify the national committee's indorsement of Charles E. Hughes, Republican nominee for president. Instead, the convention adopted a resolution res-olution directing that Mr. Parker's name be placed on the ballot under the Progressive emblem, as candidate for vice president, but that the space reserved re-served for the name of the presidential candidate be left blank. The resolution adopted also reaffirmed reaf-firmed allegiance to the Progressive national na-tional platform and pledged the Louisiana Louis-iana Progressives to permanently maintain main-tain the party's independence in the state. |
