Show GRUMAN WILL MEET RITCHIE AT PORTLAND Special to The Tribune. PORTLAND, Ore., May 27. Ralph Gruman, the Portland Hghtwelpht, will meet Willie Ritchie In a six-round bout at Portland on June 6, which comes during dur-ing Portland's annual rose festival. This will be Ritchie's first bout since his ten-round-no-decision go with Kid (Ted) Lewis, the English welterweight scrapper, in New York last winter. Ritchie has outgrown the lightweight limit and, according to reports from the east, he weighs around 147 pounds when in condition. He is now in Chicago and expects to tie in Portland by May 26. Ritchie has a' married sister and two brothers living in Portland and will visit them while here. Gruman has 'lieen resting up since his fight with Frankle Callahan in Salt Lake last February and is now in the pink of condition. His lower Jaw, which was broken in that bout, has healed and is as strong as ever. Gruman is the best boxer that Portland has ever turned out and he believes that he stands a show with the former lightweight king in a six-round bout. He will enter the ring at about HO pounds. The bout is to be held in the Portland Tee hippodrome, which is being remodeled into a boxing arena. When the alterations altera-tions are completed it will seat between 5000 and 6000 persons. Muff Bronson, a Winnipeg, Canada, featherweight will meet Joe Harrahan of Seattle in the main preliminary. 1 |
