Show EDUCATORS VISIT ST COlSlCTfflClP Party Goes Out in Autos to See Operations of Big Builders. MEAL MUCH ENJOYED Many Women Among Excursionists Ex-cursionists Who Appreciate Appre-ciate Entertainment. Take a school teacher to a constriK' tion camp boarding house and he eats as if he had earned the meal with a pick and shovel. This was proved yesterday when sev- enty school principals, supervisors and 1 friends of Superintendent D. H. Chris- tensen, headed by the superintendent himself, lunched at the boarding house of the Christensen Construction company, com-pany, at Garfield. Of course (here were many women.' in tho party, but there is no intention u to suggest the zest with which fheyj appeased their appetites with tempting tables before them. Aud, besides, they knew that they would not be allowed to browse afterward in the kitchen. They did file through it, however, after ' tho meal, and expressed their appreciation to Paul Kirschner, the chef, and Frank Bean, his assistant. A few choice morsels of the forty-three chickens prepared for the banquet were in sifiht aud within reach on a side table in the kitchen, but every woman went heroically by with her eves turned awav. They had been told that Kirschner, 'though extremely popular with the, men of the camp, had a reputation repu-tation for reigning supreme in his kitchen, and he did not suggest that they might nibble. Go Out in Autos. The meal, wdiich was served in the usual boarding house manner, without napkins or silver, was but one of Ihe things that went to make up what everyone voted to be a day of delightful delight-ful experience. The trip was made by automobile, fourteen cars being required re-quired to carry all of the excursionists. They arrived at the construction camp, wdiich is just beyond the. grounds of the American Smelting & Refining company, com-pany, about 2 o'clock. After luncheon most of the members of the party visited the smelter, being guided through it by Principal D. W. Parratt. They stopped on the way for a few minutes to watch the big steam shovel at work on the grading that is being done by the construction com- fr pany, and several of the women experienced ex-perienced a ride in its mammoth bucket, the gigantic, shovel swinging them through the air as gently as it possessed with entire sense of their fraility. , i i- S llie return 10 cue eny "(in each automobile load as its passengers were ready to return and call the day s outing complete.
