The past week has witnessed several important changes in the personnel of the Studebaker sales department organization, organi-zation, following upon the election of L. J. Oilier to a vice 'residency of the corporation. 11. T. 11 odgkius succeeds to tho post of sales manager, with an additional office of assistant sales manager man-ager created. This is said to have been made imperative im-perative from expansion of tlu Studebaker Stude-baker automobilei business, which has necessitated the establishment of additional ad-ditional branches and distributing agencies agen-cies in various sections of the country for handling the greatly increased production pro-duction of cars. George L. Wilhnan and William T. Bush have been named assistant assist-ant sales managers. In each instance the appointments announced an-nounced have meant promotion to positions posi-tions of greater responsibility, in recognition recog-nition or past faithfulness in service, and by reason of the fact that efficiency and some special qualification have merited mer-ited the preferment. It, had been accepted as a foregone conclusion in the motor car industry circles that Mr. Hodgkins would follow in tho steps of his chief, Mr. Oilier. His particular fitness for the place was generally gen-erally recognized, and his association with the vice president insured these changes in organization being effected without disturbing the smoothness in operation of the department. Mr. llodg-kins's llodg-kins's career has been identified with both military and commercial activities, the former possibly having had effect in developing a genius for exercising leadership over men, which has steadily advanced him finally to this highly responsible re-sponsible and important post. Later he was with the Chicago & Northwestern railway at Boone, Iowa, quitting the railway business to become manager of the Air Motor company s branch at Lincoln, Neb. Mr. Hodgkins served a term as chairman of the1 executive committee of the American Supply & Machinery Manufacturers Man-ufacturers ' association. His connection with the Studebaker corporation began first as branch manager man-ager of the vehicle division in Now York City, this including supervision of all export business of the department. The value of the service rendered here was the cause of Mr. Hodgkins being transferred trans-ferred to the automobile division headquarters head-quarters at Detroit and his being made the assistant sales manager. Having a thorough and practical knowledge of mechanical engineering has proven of incalculable service to Mr. nodgkins in so successfully shaping his business career. With these attributes at-tributes are those of being a careful observer and close student of business and economic conditions, giving his opinions opin-ions real value. Mr. Willman is the present advertising advertis-ing manager, and will continue to have supervision over that department. The territory has been so divided that Mr. Willman will look after that portion west of Detroit to the Pacific coast, while Mr. Bush has the district to the east. Mr. Willman has always been especially espe-cially interested in the training and development de-velopment of salesmen, and, as much of his new duties will be along those lines, broad opportunity is offered, being in his element. Mr. Bush is a Detroit product and has held positions of large responsibility with some of the city's important industries. indus-tries.
