Show HEAVY SHIPMENTS OF STUDEBAKERS MADE Trainloads Daily Leave Detroit, One to West and Other to Atlantic. In addition to other shipments, Stu-debalter Stu-debalter has adopted the plan of consigning con-signing two trainloads of the new models mod-els each day to their branches, from which the cars are passed along" to dealers. Accordingly, on last Monday two trainloads of new Sludehaker models started, one for the Pacific coast and one for the Atlantic coast, for distribution distribu-tion among dealers tributary to those branches. Tuesday two more trains wore under way for other branches, and on iW'ednesday another double tralnload was sent out, this programme to continue con-tinue until each branch house will have received its quota of cars. The demand for l!H(i models has been so great that, although working day and night, the enormous Studcbaker plants at Detroit and South Bond have been unable to meet the situation, says L. .1. Oilier. "Because of the changes in the new models," he says, "naturally our production pro-duction was somewhat delayed. But 'we are now producing each day more ears than were produced in any one day last vear, and every day shows an increase. in-crease. With the" great reduction in pri.es, while at the same time increas-inj increas-inj the qualitv and power of tho new models, we. of course, expected a large demand for the cars, but really never anticipated our sales' reaching their present figure, especially at this early date. "Nor is there any indication of a slackening up iu the buying of cars over the country, so far as reports from our agencies indicate. "Having attained a production that makes possible the shipment of two trainloads of cars daily to- branch houses, while at the same time taking care of other agencies to a goodly extent, ex-tent, ample assurance is given of reasonably reason-ably prompt deliveries to purchasers of the" new models. ''Completion and occupancy of a new-building new-building at plant 3 in Detroit, work on which is being expedited to the fullest extent possible, will greatly facilitate Studcbaker production. The building is of tho most modern type, providing nearly 100.000 additional square feet of floor' space. It will house the enameling enamel-ing and steel stamping department of the factories, and is to ho equipped with special machinery for greatly augmenting aug-menting manufacturing. Additional ovens used for baking the finish of enameled parts used on cars are also in thse new quarters." |
