Show MIC STANDARD TO Sill NEW SIT Dragon Consolidated Ships Big Tonnage; Beck Tunnel Tun-nel to Mine Deeper. Officials of the Tintic Standard Mining Min-ing company are considering installing electrical equipment for the operation of the hoist and compressor in order that a new working shaft may be sunk at once, says the Eureka Reporter. Some time ago a place for the new shaft was selected, and tho work of sinking taken up, hut recent developments develop-ments underground have convinced the management that a much better place can be selected for the new double-compartment double-compartment shaft. The place where the new shaft will be sunk is about ' 1700 feet to the east of the present or old shaft, which has a depth of 1000 feet. Officials of the Tin tic Standard Mining Min-ing company expect to raise about JfrJo,-000 JfrJo,-000 with which to sink this new shaft, which is needed if the force at the property is to handle the new ore deposit de-posit in rapid and economical manner. Manager Kaddatz will try 1o borrow this money, as he is anxious to avoid placing additional assessments on the company 's stock. If the ore, which has already been opened, could be handled properly, there would be ample money coming into the . treasury to pay for new machinery and J for the new shaft, but the Tintie Stand- i ard people have been working under a serious handicap which can be removed re-moved only by the sinking of a new shaft. Underground conditions are more encouraging than ever at the Tintic Standard and tho mine is sending out occasional shipments. Every smelting plant in Utah operating oper-ating at capacity has created a demand for fluxing ore that gives the Dragon Consolidated Mining company an opportunity op-portunity of shipping a large quantity of iron. The supply of iron ore is almost al-most unlimited at the Dragon. While the present out put is about 340 tons per day, it will ,be an ensy matter to increase in-crease the tonnage if the smelters are in need of moro fluxing ores. There are iron deposits of about the same character in tho Black .lack and tho iron King, both of which may be ablo to secure contracts if the demand de-mand for iron ore continues. This new contract, permitting the shipment of iron ore, has placed the Dragon well up toward the top in Tin-tic's Tin-tic's list of shippers, the mine also being be-ing a heavy shipper of the other classes of ore. The best grade of ore is being taken from the north end of the property, while the mine is also shipping a considerable quantity of low-grade low-grade ore to the plant of the Tintic Milling company. A piece of development work which may have an important bearing on mining min-ing operations on the east side of Godiva mountain has just been taken up in the No. 2 shaft of the Heel; Tunnel Tun-nel and of tho Colorado Consolidated. Local officials of the Knight companies com-panies state that for some time deep prospecting on this ground has been under consideration, and that now (hat this work has been authorized no time will be lost, in sinking to the 1(500 level in the Beck Tunnel shaft. On the U00 level of the Beck Tunnel Tun-nel a largo body of quartz was encountered en-countered and it is thought that when this quartz is cut a few hundred feet below this point it will carry commercial commer-cial grade. Local mining men who a,re interested in that part of the Tintic district will be pleased to learn that the Knight interests have started n : campaign of deep work anil there is : but little question hut what this work will put the Colorado Consolidated hack in line as one of the heavy shippers. |
