Show AWAITING OUTCOME I OF ESSAY CONTEST ! Ten Utah. Students Are Hoping That - They Will Be Among the Prize "Winners. Ten Utah Students are waiting with 1 interest tho outcome of; the contest of the National Educational association for the best essays ou "Thrift," in 10U0 words. Every state was pn titled to ten entrants en-trants in tho contest, and in all there are ten cash prizes. The first prize is $100, the second prize $."0, the third and fourth prizes $25, and tho iii'th, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth $1U. The essays were all sent in May 1, hut the awards have not yet been made by the national association. The ten best essays in Utah were selected se-lected by a process of elimination. Elementary and high schools all over the state were invited to compete. Teachers picked the best essays and passed them on to principals. Principals Princi-pals and superintendents sifted the lists down and left tho remainder to the state board of education, which selocted what they considered the best ten in the state. Salt Lake has only one entrant. : Davis county had live in the final list of ten.
