Show IRVIN COBB MAY MAKE RIVER TRIP Special to The Tribune. SALMON Idaho, May 27 Captain Guleke, the Salmon river boatman, started start-ed 'another voyage down the river to Lewiston on Tuesday. Pie was accompanied accom-panied by Ernest Pryor and his son of New York. Word has been received that Iryin Cobb, the writer, is expecting to make the trip later on. Guleke has been operating op-erating on the river for the past sixteen six-teen years and has never had a serious accident, though many less-experienced men have been drowned. The distance by water to Lewiston is about 300 miles. There are some rapids that drop from ten to fifteen feet. The country through which the river runs is most wild. There is abundance of game of ail descriptions, bear, elk, mountain sheep and deer being seen from the boat. Guleke 'a boats are built here and are about eight feet wide and eighteen feet long, and are handled by huge sweeps at bow and stern. The boats are broken up and sold for what they will fetch when they arrive at Lewis-ton. |
